Peeled potatoes and onions sat waiting while snow accumulated in drifts and forced a last minute cancellation of our Board Meeting and party.

First Hebrew Congregation
Welcome! Our stately synagogue, designed in the Eastern European Orthodox tradition by architect C.C.Elwood of Elkhart, IN., was dedicated on July 21,1929. Major building renovations renewed the beauty of the structure in1997. Current upgrades improved safety, code compliance & utilization of our STRICTLY Kosher Kitchen. On the second floor, which is accessible by electric lift glide or stairway, are the Sanctuary; with it's central Bima for Reading of theTorah, a beautifully woodcarved Ark (built by Harry Leiberman of Bangor, MI), 150 seats including the open Balcony, an Office and a small Classroom. Congregation consists of appx 60 members; (nine Board Members & five committees). Attended by families of local permanent and summer residents (primarily from Chicago), Friends, Relatives and Visitors from Coast to Coast, North to South; we Welcome all Jews to participate in services & anyone may attend.
